Planetary affect on body

Astrology obtains its meaning from the placement of the planets in various positions. At the time when a person is born, every planet in our solar system including the stars like the moon and sun place them at a particular position, which is represented in a person's natal chart in the various houses of astrology. This action and configuration not only influences the terrestrial life but also influences human life on earth. These planets have a natural force which influences the biological, physical, mental emotional states of individual. Their different configurations, locations and sizes have either positive or negative effects on mankind.




Each planet and sign directly relate to different parts of our body contributing to its effective functioning. A birth chart that displays the position of planets in the signs reveal not only circumstances of life but also the constitution of a person’s body and mind. It is said that the different phases of a planet such as when in transit, retrograde, active or dormant can influence a person in many ways. The planets are responsible for both the health or the lack of it for the human body.


All the planets in the solar system affect us astrologically in some way or the other and each planet signifies a certain area of your body and the ailments associated with it.

1. Sun

The Sun is technically a star and is responsible for providing us energy, warmth and abundance. Hence, the Sun is symbolic of how much energy you have, both physical and mental and also signifies the functioning of your heart.

2. Moon

The moon, quite contrary to the Sun provides coolness, poise and strength. Hence, the moon is responsible for your digestion process, dispersing excessive heat from your body and the smooth flow of the blood stream in your body.

3. Mercury

Mercury is known as one of the brightest planets in the solar system hence Mercury stands for the smooth functioning of your brain, intelligence, the ability to take decisions and calmness.

4. Venus

It is said that this planet, otherwise called the planet of love stands for everything "sweet" in the body. Hence, this planet affects the level of sugar in your body and its malefic affect could result in a condition like Diabetes.

5. Mars

It is said that Mars governs the smooth functioning of our kidneys, bladder and pancreas. It also regulates the blood flow in our body. The malefic affect of Mars could result in a debilitating stomach disorder for all those affected by it.

6. Jupiter

Jupiter is the biggest planet of the solar system and presumably stands for strength, physical stamina, smooth functioning of our heart etc. A person with a weak Jupiter is bound to feel weak and might develop a heart issue. Thus Jupiter influences physical growth, limbs, liver, kidney functioning and accumulation of fat in our bodies.


7. Saturn

Saturn governs the role of vitamins and minerals in our body. It is responsible for our strong bones and the build up of calcium in our body. A person with a weak Saturn is prone to fractures in the body.

8. Rahu and Ketu are classified as nebulous.

Apart from the "standard" body types we know of, there are other kinds of body types that are not governed by the fat cells in your body,  instead, they are governed by the elements of nature. Astrology broadly divides body types into 4 categories based on the following elements - Earth, Water, Air and Fire.

Aries, Leo and Sagittarius are Fire signs, Taurus, Virgo and Capricorn are Earth signs, Gemini, Libra and Aquarius are Air signs, and finally Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces are Water signs.

People with Fire sign should consume a lot of fresh fruits, leafy vegetables, salads and more cold foods to balance out the excessive heat in their body. They should also include calcium in their diet.

Those having earth sign should have a lot of grains, cereals and legumes. They must look at increasing the protein intake in their body. They should also detoxify their system once in a while and drink lots of water.

People with Air sign should increase their calcium intake and have porridge, milk and lots of soup along with some green leafy vegetables everyday. They should avoid heavy and oily food and include food that is light on their stomach.

People with water should take a high fiber diet and include lots of grains, legumes and fruits in their diet. Their digestion is naturally good, so they can try almost all sorts of food available.
